Summer Parties and Holiday Parties with Balloons
The two most important corporate events of the year. Conceived as premium, delivered professionally.
The summer party and the holiday party are the two annual corporate events that happen at almost every company. Each has its own purpose: the summer party strengthens team spirit and shows appreciation in a relaxed outdoor setting. The holiday party marks the end of the year, recognizes achievements and builds an emotional bridge to the next fiscal year.
Chrollo Balloon designs balloon decor for both occasions in Berlin and across Germany. We work for HR departments, marketing leads, office managers and executive teams who know that corporate events shouldn't be an afterthought but planned strategically.
Whether it's 20 employees in an intimate setting or 500 people at a large event venue, an outdoor setup in July or an elegant holiday atmosphere in December: we develop concepts that fit the occasion, the brand and the effect you want.

Summer Party Decor with Balloons
The summer party is the appreciation event of the year. It usually takes place outdoors, is aimed at employees and often their families too, and creates the relaxed atmosphere in which the team recharges. The decor plays a special role here: it has to create a bright mood, look great in photos and stand up to wind and weather.
Our summer party installations typically include:
- Entrance arches made of organic balloon garlands in bright summer colors
- Photo walls as central memory spots for employee selfies
- Colorful accents at catering stations, lounges and play areas
- Kids' areas with age-appropriate, understated decor (when families are invited)
- Stage backdrops for speeches, employee recognition or live acts
Outdoor installations need special attention to wind, sun and weather. We build wind-resistant solutions with weighted bases, plan shaded spots and have weather backups ready just in case. For fully outdoor summer parties, we recommend setting up in the early morning hours, so everything is in place by the time employees arrive.
Holiday Party Decor with Balloons
The holiday party is the year-end event with an emotional high point. It usually takes place indoors, often follows a set program with a speech from leadership, awards and a shared dinner, and sets the stage for appreciation and looking back on the past year.
Instead of the classic red and green, we develop holiday party concepts that fit the brand and the company culture. Three main directions work especially well:
Premium classic: champagne, cream and rose gold with subtle gold accents. Elegant, festive and a natural fit for premium brands and established companies.
Modern minimal: black and anthracite with gold accents or mirror balloons. Contemporary, urban and a good fit for tech companies, agencies and modern brands.
Traditional festive: deep red, fir green and warm gold. Traditionally festive and a good fit for family businesses, heritage brands and traditional industries.
Typical elements of a holiday party installation:
- Entrance arch or welcome installation in the foyer
- Stage backdrop for speeches and employee awards
- Photo wall for team memories and social media activity
- Accent columns at key points
- Table accents or centerpieces for the catering
- Optional ceiling installations above the dance floor or main stage

Summer Parties and Holiday Parties by Event Size
The right installation depends heavily on the size of the event.
We scale our concepts precisely to your number of attendees, your venue and your budget.
Small Event: 20 to 50 People
For small events, we recommend well-placed accents rather than large-scale installations. An entrance arch at reception, a central photo wall and table accents are enough to create the atmosphere. With 50 attendees, up to 5,500 euros in total costs per event remain free of payroll tax for your employees under § 19 EStG. That includes catering, drinks and the venue, so decor is only one part of it (not tax advice).
Mid-Size Event: 50 to 200 People
Mid-size events are our standard format. Here we work with several focal points: entrance, photo wall, stage backdrop and optional ceiling accents.
The concepts are fully coordinated, so the venue reads as one cohesive space, not as a collection of separate decorations.
Large Event: 200 to 500 People
Large events call for concepts that work across several zones. We plan the entrance, reception, stage and lounge areas, each with its own installation, tied together by a consistent palette and choice of materials. We staff setup with a correspondingly large team to keep setup time short.
Premium Large-Scale Event: 500+ People
Premium events with 500 or more people are complex event architecture projects. We work closely with event architects, lighting designers and catering leads. Installations often include large-scale ceiling installations, space-defining structures, multiple photo spots and themed lounge areas.
§ 19 EStG: The 110-Euro Tax Allowance for Company Events
When budgeting your corporate event in Germany, the tax treatment under § 19 (1) sentence 1 No. 1a EStG matters. Each participant qualifies for a tax-free allowance of 110 euros (including VAT) per company event, for a maximum of two events per year, for example a summer party and a holiday party. The allowance covers all costs of the event, not just the decor.
A worked example:
With 50 participating employees and no accompanying guests, that's 5,500 euros per event, so with two events a year (summer party plus holiday party) a total of 11,000 euros that remain free of payroll tax for your employees. With 100 employees it's 22,000 euros, with 200 employees 44,000 euros a year. This amount covers all event costs: decor, catering, drinks, venue and entertainment. Decor is one component; the larger share of the budget usually goes to catering and the venue.
Key requirements for the allowance:
- The event must be open to all employees
- A maximum of two events per year qualify
- Only the amount above 110 euros per person is taxable, and the employer can pay a flat 25 percent tax on it
- Accompanying guests count too: their share of the costs is added to the respective employee's 110 euros
Not tax advice: please check the requirements for your company with your tax advisor before larger events.
Venues for Summer Parties and Holiday Parties
Every venue brings its own requirements and possibilities. We know the quirks of the most common event venue types.
Outdoor Venues (Summer Party)
Gardens and open lawns are classic summer party spots. We build wind-resistant installations with weighted bases and plan shaded spots, because direct sun takes a toll even on premium latex. Weather backup plans are a must: if it suddenly rains, it has to be clear which elements move under the pavilion and which are temporarily taken down.
Company Grounds and Courtyards (Summer Party)
Summer parties on company grounds are logistically ideal: short distances for everyone and flexibility for employees to come and go. We use the existing architecture and create entrance installations, photo spots and catering accents that visually reflect the company's identity.
Event Venues and Halls (Both Occasions)
Classic event venues usually offer excellent conditions: climate-controlled, well lit, logistically simple. We coordinate setup times with venue management, use existing rigging structures for ceiling installations and deliver concepts that fit the space perfectly.
Restaurants and Hotels (Holiday Party)
Restaurants and hotels are classic holiday party spots. We coordinate tight setup windows with restaurant or hotel management, often in the early hours on the day of the event. Understated elegance rather than large-scale decor is often the right approach here.
Industrial Lofts and Unique Venues (Both Occasions)
Lofts, galleries, former factory halls and other unique venues are ideal for brands that want to stand out from the ordinary. We work with large structures that make use of the height and character of these spaces. Ceiling installations make a particularly strong impression here, and mirror balloons reflect the light of modern LED lighting.
Premium Materials for Professional Company Events
For latex balloons, we use premium Sempertex balloons made from natural rubber latex, a plant-based, renewable raw material. Sempertex is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Sempertex also has its balloons tested by TÜV Rheinland.
At corporate events, material quality matters even more: a holiday party often runs late into the night, and a summer party with families can easily last all day. Depending on the room and climate, premium latex lasts considerably longer, holds its color and tears less often. Basic balloons, on the other hand, can visibly lose quality after just a few hours.
For foil balloons with logo printing, we work with experienced print partners.
Frequently Asked Questions About Balloon Decor
for Summer Parties and Holiday Parties
1
How much does summer party balloon decor cost?
Budgets for summer party decor typically range between 800 and 3,500 euros for
events with 50 to 200 people, depending on scope. For outdoor decor, we also plan weather backup solutions. For extensive installations with a photo wall, themed lounges, stage backdrop and welcome arch, budgets usually fall between 2,500 and 8,000 euros. Large events with more than 500 participants run into five figures.
4
When should I book summer party decor?
Peak season for summer parties runs from May to August. We recommend three to four months of lead time, so
inquiries in February or March for the peak period. Outdoor summer parties also need weather backup planning, which has to be worked out in good time. Inquiries in April for June dates are often still doable; from May on, it gets tight.
7
How do you design a modern holiday party without the usual clichés?
Modern holiday party decor skips the classic red and green and the usual
Christmas motifs. Instead, we work with refined colors like champagne, rose gold, cream, muted teal or elegant black with gold accents. Structures are pared back: large balloon walls as photo backdrops, floating accents on the ceiling, accent columns at the entrance.
It suits premium brands and modern company cultures without losing the festive feel.
2
How much does holiday party balloon decor cost?
Budgets for holiday party decor typically range between 1,000 and 5,000 euros for mid-size
events with 50 to 200 people, depending on scope. Premium installations with an entrance arch, stage backdrop, photo wall and ceiling accents range between 3,000 and 8,000 euros.
Large events with 200+ people and extensive installations typically fall between 5,000 and 20,000 euros. Decor costs count toward the total costs of the company event, for which § 19 EStG grants a tax-free allowance of 110 euros per participant (not tax advice).
5
How many employees justify professional decor?
Professional decor can be worth it from around 20 employees, because it makes appreciation for the
team visible and turns an obligatory date into an event people like to remember. Under § 19 EStG, there's a tax-free allowance of 110 euros per participant per event, so with 50 participants up to 5,500 euros per summer party and another 5,500 euros per holiday party. This covers all event costs, including catering and venue, and leaves room for professional decor. Not tax advice.
8
Summer party or holiday party: which is the better investment?
They serve different purposes. The summer party is a moment of appreciation in a
relaxed atmosphere, often with families. The holiday party closes out the year with a review, awards and a set program. Both benefit from professional decor, but in different ways: the summer party needs bright, photogenic outdoor installations, the holiday party an elegant indoor atmosphere with a focus on the stage. So it's not either-or: both occasions are worth it.
3
When should I book holiday party decor?
Ideally three to six months before the date. Holiday party season, from mid-November
to mid-December, is one of the busiest times of the year. Popular December dates are often booked early. We can often still take on shorter-notice requests, around four to six weeks before the event, though with fewer concept options.
6
Outdoor summer party: what do I need to keep in mind?
Outdoor summer parties have three main risks: weather, wind and sun. We recommend wind-resistant structures with weighted bases, shaded spots for
the decor and at least one weather plan B. Common solutions: pavilions or tents as sheltered photo spots, entrance arches built to withstand wind with sufficiently heavy bases, and setup in the early morning hours so the balloons don't sit in the sun for hours.
9
Can you handle both events for the same company?
Yes, in fact that's our preferred setup. When we design both the summer party and the holiday party for the same
company, we can keep developing the brand and event identity over time.
We already know the venue, the logistics and the company's preferences, so we can develop the installations with more precision. We're happy to work with you over several years.
