30 years of Francucci on Kurfürstendamm: an anniversary decoration in bordeaux and champagne

We had the pleasure of designing the entrance of Francucci Ristorante in Berlin for its thirtieth anniversary on Kurfürstendamm. With several hundred balloons in bordeaux and champagne, an organic shape and a staging that was visible right in the middle of the Ku’damm.

There are addresses in Berlin that need no introduction. Francucci on Kurfürstendamm is one of them.
On 10 and 11 April 2026, Francucci celebrated its Ku’damm location with a two-day festival. Thirty years at this address. We were asked to design the entrance area, setting the stage for an anniversary that nobody should miss.
A Berlin classic with an Italian soul
Francucci is not a new concept and not a trend. The Italian ristorante has existed since 1962 and is one of Berlin's established names when it comes to authentic Italian cuisine.
The Kurfürstendamm location has carried this idea for three decades. A place where Italian joie de vivre meets Berlin city life. Designing an anniversary here means dealing not just with a restaurant, but with a piece of Berlin's culinary history. We felt this responsibility and carried it into every decision.
The challenge: visibility on the Ku’damm
Kurfürstendamm is one of Berlin's busiest streets. Decorating here means a huge audience and, at the same time, a lot of competition for attention.
Our task was to turn the entrance into a stage. Visible enough to stand out from the stream of passers-by. Clear enough to communicate the anniversary. And respectful enough not to overshadow the character of the ristorante and its historic lettering.
No standard decoration. Instead, a staging that welcomes the place rather than covering it up.
Bordeaux and champagne as a visual language
The choice of colours came from the brand itself. Bordeaux as a strong main colour, champagne as a calm counterpoint. Two tones that belong to Francucci and at the same time make it instantly clear what it is all about: Italian elegance and festive gastronomy.
Bordeaux evokes red wine, food culture and the warm colour palette of Italian restaurants. Champagne gives the installation lightness and depth and keeps the whole festive without feeling heavy. Together, the colours draw the eye exactly where it belongs. To the entrance.
Several hundred balloons, placed by hand
For an installation of this scale, we work with several hundred balloons in different sizes. Large statement balloons set the striking points, smaller accents create transitions, movement and depth.
Every single balloon is placed by hand. That is the difference between decoration and event design. The finished shape looks as if it had grown naturally, but it is the result of a carefully considered composition. Installation and finishing touches were completed before the celebrations began, so that Francucci shone in its new splendour right on time for the anniversary.
Premium brands deserve premium materials
Decorating on the Ku’damm means decorating in public. Every detail is seen, photographed and shared. That is exactly why material quality is never a side issue for us.
We work with balloons from Sempertex. They are made of natural rubber latex, i.e. the milky sap of the rubber tree, not plastic. Sempertex sources its latex from an FSC-certified supply chain and is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. The balloons are tested to EN 71.
For a brand like Francucci, this is naturally the right standard. With a premium brand, the material must never fall short of the look.
An impact that went beyond the entrance
The result was an anniversary decoration that was not only visible but tangible. Passers-by on Kurfürstendamm stopped, took photos and shared the pictures on social media. An installation became a moment of its own in the cityscape.
This is exactly the impact we aim for with event decoration in Berlin. For us, balloons are not a nice extra. They are a tool that makes brands visible and gives occasions meaning.
Tradition meets staging
In thirty years on the Ku’damm, Francucci has proven what consistency, quality and personality are all about. A brand with such a history does not need a loud show for its anniversary, but a staging that takes its character seriously and makes it visible to the outside world.
That was exactly our task. And that is exactly what event design is about.
We are delighted to have been part of this anniversary and to have presented Francucci on Kurfürstendamm for two days in a visual setting worthy of this place.
